Photographers imagine the world in pictures, and document it in ways that spur and inspire freewheeling thought. Documentary photographers — whether capturing the aftermath of conflict, famous figures, religious observances, social realities, or indeed making visible the unreal — take a fraction of time and suspend it, allowing the image to be interpreted in myriad ways by viewers.
Works of Imagination is the October Square Print Sale of the legendary photo agency Magnum photos, founded in 1947 by four pioneering photographers: Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, and David “Chim” Seymour. The sale is in partnership with Aperture, a not-for-profit foundation, connecting the photo community and its audiences with the most inspiring work.
The sale is available on www.magnumphotos.com/shop from Monday, October 19 to Sunday, October 25, 6PM EST. During the sale, and one week only, over 100 archival-quality prints, signed by the photographers or estate-stamped by the estates, are available for just $100.
